Finally, we migrated our atwork blog system blog.atwork.at to a new platform built with Hugo.
The new blog.atwork.at website comes with a lot of advantages. Here’s a quick overview:
- Modern, clean design (thanks to Hugo & PaperMod)
- Blazing fast performance with pre-generated pages
- Light/Dark theme switch
- Mobile-friendly layout
- Super-fast search
- RSS feeds per category
- Clear tagging
- Archive by year and month with article counts
- Full migration of our existing content (around 2,000 articles) with a thorough cleanup
We say goodbye to our old blog system blogengine.io, which served us well for 18 years in various versions. Over time, we customized the open-source solution for different .NET versions, and it did a great job.
It was time for a modern solution - Hugo, a powerful static site generator - that supports writing in Markdown and integrates seamlessly with our CI/CD pipeline. Migrating and restructuring all existing articles was a big effort. I started this project two years ago and even wrote a small C# tool to handle most of the work. This Christmas, I finally found time to complete the migration steps, with the remaining tasks done through manual cleanup.
A big thank you to my colleague Christoph for your support in building the new blog system and developing the pipeline that made the final migration smooth!
We hope you enjoy our new and lightning-fast blog.atwork.at website!
