Are you following the FIFA World Cup 2026? Have you made your predictions yet?
What started as a simple idea - a World Cup 2026 prediction game for colleagues at atwork - quickly became a fully functional web app. Using GitHub Copilot and a “vibe coding” approach, our development colleague Andi built a complete solution with dashboard, leaderboard, match tracking, and a prediction interface.
See some screenshorts of the World Cup prediction webapp here.
The match schedule was extracted using AI and saved to a database. The app runs on ASP.NET MVC, uses a SQL Azure database, and integrates work account login via Entra ID. Even practical features such as automatically filling missing tips were implemented, making it easy for users with little or no knowledge of soccer (like me) to participate.
This approach shifts the focus from how to code to what to build.
This example highlights the real power of vibe coding: moving from writing code to shaping ideas. You describe what you want, iterate quickly, and end up with a usable, ready-to-use application in a fraction of the usual time.
Sometimes, that’s all it takes - an idea, a good vibe, and (GitHub) Copilot.
Well done, Andi!
Now all that’s left is to see the results. We’re curious (and a competitive) to find out who will win it all. ;)
