Delegate365-January Updates: Sync with AU´s, Devices Management, Company defaults and more

The latest update to Delegate365 v10 includes numerous small but impactful changes designed to improve the user experience and functionality. With the addition of new fields and features, administrators can now manage their tasks more efficiently. These improvements reflect our commitment to continuous innovation and user satisfaction. See the changes here.

  • New sync with Administrative Units (AU´s): The new AU synchronization enables the automatic assignment of users to a Delegate365 OU based on the membership of an AU. This works in the same way as synchronizing with security groups. Members of the AU are synchronized to the Delegate365 OU of the same name. If an assigned user is no longer a member of an AU, he or she will be removed from the OU.

In module Administration / Sync rules / section User, the user sync can now be selected between Sync with Security Group, Sync with Administrative Units, or User Properties.
  • Devices features: Administrators can now see the BitLocker recovery keys, and the Local Administrator passwords of a device. Additionally, the keys and password can be rotated.
    image
  • Permission Policy new roles for devices: To control these two device features, new Permission Policy roles have been added: "Read and rotate BitLocker keys" and "Read and rotate Local Administrator Passwords". When set to Yes, admins can use these features.
    image
  • Users / Devices: There are a number of management features for the device, including the two new features described above.

  • Automatic pre-filling when creating a new user (v9 and v10): When a new user is created in Delegate365, their company data can be automatically filled in from the administrator properties. Automatic pre-filling can be controlled via a switch in the user properties.
    image
If the "Use default properties" switch is enabled, the field values defined here will be used as default values when a new user is created.
    image
This means that when a new user is created in Delegate365, the default settings are used in the Optional Settings, as here.
    image
We see that the defaults are adopted. However, the administrator can of course override them. The switch "Use default properties" overrides all other settings (as follows). This is the case with D365 v9 and v10.
  • New user-company fields based on OU specifications (v10): The fill function described above has been expanded. The default values can now be stored in the OU properties, in menu OU´s / Manage OU´s / Invoice data.
    image
The company and address details can now be stored per OU, as here.
    image
Note that this setting only applies to new users if the Admin Properties switch (see above) is disabled, as here:
    image
If a new user is created with these settings and the OU is selected, the stored company and address data of the OU are pre-filled.
    image
Since the OU "Berlin" was selected in this example, the values from the corresponding OU are pre-filled.
    image
This eliminates the need for administrators to manually fill out many fields for new users.
  • Edit Description for Distribution Groups, Shared Mailboxes, and Resource Mailboxes: If the resource is a cloud resource, the Description field is now shown and can be modified.
    image
  • Set Title, Company, and Department for Shared Mailboxes and Resource Mailboxes: These fields are shown and can be modified for cloud resources.
    image
  • Request: Convert a Security Group to a Mail-Enabled Security Group: Unfortunately, this is not possible by M365 design. The SG has to be deleted and newly created.
  • Permission Policy small change v9 to v10: The dashboard shows a section "Subscribed SKU´s"- In Delegate365 v9, the permission "Administrators" controls if users see this box.
    image
In Delegate365 v10, the role "Is License Administrator" controls if users see this box.
    image
If you have existing Permission Policies, please check the "Administration" permission and replace it with the "Is License Administrator" role to get the desired outcome.
  • Small fixes: When setting user licenses, the license number and bar were not always updated correctly. This and other display updates have been fixed.
    image
  • Last Sync Timezone added: The timezone has been added to the Last sync date and time on the dashboard.
    image
  • Retirement of MFA (Legacy): For compatibility reasons, Delegate365 still offers the MFA (Legacy) feature. This feature will be removed shortly as Microsoft will finally decommission the underlying API in April. See more at Action required: MSOnline and AzureAD PowerShell retirement - 2025 info and resources.

This functionality can be replaced by conditional access policies.

We hope you like the new features. New features are only available in Delegate365 v10. All existing customer Delegate365 v10 instances have been automatically updated to the latest version. All new instances will automatically receive the latest Delegate365 version.
