Um Apps mit Authentifizierung unter Windows 10 zu entwickeln gibt es jetzt eine neue API: den WebAccountManager. Hierzu gibt es einen sehr guten Artikel (siehe unten), der den neuen WebAccountManager und im Vergleich hierzu die existierende Active Directory Authentication Library (ADAL) beschreibt. Eine gute Gelegenheit um sich gleich die “offiziellen” Microsoft-Abkürzungen zu merken: AAD steht für Azure Active Directory Account (also das Konto in der Cloud) MSA steht für Microsoft Account – welcher zuvor als “Live-ID” bezeichnet wurde (und in vielen Dokumentationen und Anwendung noch immer so heißt, aber Microsoft hat bereits angekündigt den Namen nach und nach auszubessern). ...

Ganz neu und frisch gibt es seit wenigen Tagen eine Azure Billing API. Enterprise Agreement Kunden haben ja eine eigene Verwaltung ihrer Subscriptions im Microsoft Azure - EA Portal und eine eigne Schnittstelle. Alle anderen Azure Subscriptions und deren Verwendung und die angefallenen Kosten können nun seit kurzem mit der neuen Azure Billing API (Preview) abgefragt werden. Wozu? Das ist besonders für kleine Unternehmen sinnvoll, die kein Azure EA besitzen, aber dennoch mehrere Azure Subscriptions verwenden. So werden etwa oft mehrere eigene Unternehmens-MSDN Abos von unterschiedlichen Mitarbeitern verwendet, da macht es Sinn die “usage” und das “billing” automatisiert (oder in weiterer Folge gesammelt) abzufragen. ...

The new app model has a lot of benefits, especially for Web Developers who are writing solutions for Microsoft SharePoint Server 2013 or SharePoint Online. A very common request of Line-of-Business (LOB) apps is that actions in SharePoint lists shall trigger special operations, for example to start a workflow or to exchange data with other, external systems. This can be accomplished with “Remote Event Receivers” in SharePoint. With SharePoint 2013 the new concept uses Azure ServiceBus to transport events and data between the SharePoint Server system and a remote App (which while developing usually is running on “localhost”). ...
