Martina gave an overview of Enterprise Social, differences between SharePoint Social and Yammer, experiences, projects and studies. Die Office 365 API ist relativ neu und seit Mitte Mai in einer neuen Preview-Version verfügbar. Mit der Office 365 APIs können Apps auf Daten aus Office 365 wie E-Mail, Calendar, Contacts, Files und Profilinformation eines Users zugreifen. Die Office 365 API stellt REST APIs und Standard OAuth Authentifizierung bereit und kann somit sowohl von native Apps unter Windows 8, iOS, Android und anderen Plattformen benutzt werden. Microsoft plant in Zukunft die REST APIs weiter aufzupeppen und es werden weitere APIs hinzukommen, etwa für SharePoint, Exchange und Yammer. ...

Achtung, SharePoint Developer: Das Office Team hat bekanntgegeben, dass AutoHosted Apps in naher Zukunft nicht mehr möglich sind, siehe Update on Autohosted Apps Preview program. Die “Office 365 Autohosted Apps experience” ist ein Service aus der Preview von SharePoint 2013, welches nun mit 30. Juni 2014 eingestellt wird. Danach sind keine AutoHosted Apps mehr möglich. Anstelle der AutoHosted Apps treten die Provider-Hosted Apps. Apps, die derzeit im AutoHosted Service laufen sind davon nicht betroffen und laufen weiter. Wenn sich für diese existierenden Apps etwas ändern sollte, wird das Office Team dies ebenso in seinem Blog blogs.office.com veröffentlichen. ...

Auf der Build Conference 2014 wurden mehr als 160 Sessions gehalten. Aus der Fülle an Themen habe ich mir Automatisierung in Microsoft Azure herausgepickt, da ich die neuen Methoden zur Prozessautomatisierung sehr spannend und hilfreich finde. Warum finde ich das Thema Automatisierung so wichtig? Nun, oft deployt man als Developer ein und dasselbe Projekt in verschiedene Azure-Umgebungen oder n-Mal in verschiedene Subscriptions, etwa als Stage oder als Production-System oder etwa für die Umsetzung von SaaS Multi-Tenant Lösungen. Hierfür braucht es sinnvollerweise eine Unterstützung um diese Tasks zu automatisieren. Microsoft stellt hierzu neuerdings mehrere Möglichkeiten bereit. ...

Heute hat die BUILD Windows Conference begonnen. Die Keynote (Nummer 1, morgen gibts die zweite mit ScottGu) stand ganz im Zeichen von Windows Phone 8.1 und Windows 8.1 Update – sowie “Development for One Windows”. Doch schön der Reihe nach… Im (derzeit kalten) San Francisco hat heute die mittlerweile vierte BUILD Konferenz im Moscone Center begonnen, nun zum zweiten Mal in “SanFran” (nach L.A. 2011 und am MSFT Campus in Redmond 2012). Mit etwa 5000 Teilnehmern ist die Build eine richtig große Konferenz. So war auch der Andrang stark und die Teilnehmerströme (gewohnt organisiert mit “go this way please”-Anleitung der vielen Helfer) wurden zur Keynote geleitet (…einmal um die Halle rundherum, damit man nachher geordnet in der Schlange vor der Rolltreppe steht…ohne Worte). Anyway, gerade noch einen Platz in der knallvollen Keynote gefunden. ...

Seit kurzem ist Version 2 (Beta) von Project Siena verfügbar, schreibt S. Somasegar in seinem MSDN-Blog: Project Siena Beta 2: Enabling business users to create apps connected to enterprise services, web and social So schreibt der Corporate Vice President der Developer Division: “This major update changes the kind of impact that apps built with Siena can have within a business. Project Siena now enables business users to connect apps to powerful web services – from popular consumer services to enterprise SaaS to services created by IT.” ...

Microsoft OneNote 2013 ist nun gratis für mehrere Plattformen verfügbar. Gibt es hierzu auch Neuigkeiten für Software-Entwickler? Ja! Für Entwickler sind vor allem die API´s interessant, siehe Scott Hansleman´s Blogpost OneNote and Microsoft’s quiet API revolution. Scott schreibt sehr schön, wie wichtig Schnittstellen für moderne Software ist: “The moral of the story here is - if you have no API then you have no story.” Das finde ich in unserer “connected world” sehr treffend. Letzten Herbst wurde das App Studio für Windows Phone veröffentlicht. Jetzt wurde das AppStudio weiter verbessert und liegt nun in einer neuen Version vor. Mit dem Windows Phone App Studio können Apps online mit ein wenig Konfiguration erstellt werden – sozusagen ein “deklaratives Programmieren” á la CASE Tool. Das Ergebnis ist eine fertige, lauffähige App, die auch als Visual Studio Projekt downgeloadet und weiter angepasst werden kann.
