Recently, I stumbled across a strange behavior when running self-developed SPFx webparts in various browsers. When the SPO app was deployed, it worked well with Single-Sign-On, but in some browsers, the webpart was blocked. Instead, a grey box saying login.microsoftonline.com refused to connect. was displayed. I experienced that behavior in Chrome, and Edge, while FireFox, Safarai and Opera showed the webpart. Also, there was a different experience when working in the normal mode, or in the In-Private mode. If that happens to you, check out the solution here.

People should stay at home if possible and work should be done from home if possible. We at atwork Vienna decided today in the team to do home office in the next few days and possibly weeks. Microsoft started to recommend its 64bit edition of Office 365 pro plus to be installed as the default Office installation. While at first many people think this is a bad idea due to all add-ins I did the switch last weekend and it was a very smooth and friction free experience. Till April 2019 you had to manually uninstall the 32bit version of Office first and than install the 64bit version. If you are deploying Office 365 pro plus through the Office 365 Deployment toolkit you can now automate this experience and add a new switch to your config file.

When we started with Delegate365 five years ago, basic permissions were sufficient to control what features can be used by Scope Admins. Since Delegate365 evolved with more functionality and we received requests from our customers, it was time to renew the permission control to a more granular level. So, the existing permissions have been replaced with permission policies. With Delegate365 version 8.1, each Administrator gets a permission policy assigned that controls on a very granular level, what modules and features can be managed. I recently had a curious behavior in my customers Exchange 2010 SP3 hybrid environment with centralized mail transport for Exchange 2010 SP3 Edge servers enabled.

Before I describe the topic in more detail I would like to say thank you to the guys from Microsoft: Timothy Heeney, Scott Landry and Tom Kern helped me with my ‘little’ mail flow problem . Appreciate your help.

My customer is using a smtp gateway for external mail flow as usual. Some of the mailboxes have configured smtp forwarding like ForwardingAddress (mail contact) and ForwardingSMTPAddress (external smtp address directly set on the mailbox).

In the coming week there will be the next update of Delegate rolled out. This will be Delegate version 2.9 which includes these updates:

New Synchronization: We improved the sync processes (for domains, security groups, distribution lists and user and licenses) which now are combined in one simple step. The user import now can be configured with rules for putting users in specific OU´s depending on special properties (country, security groups, AAD properties…)

Today’s tip is a quick one: If you have licensed mailboxes you only need as additional E-Mail addresses with a separate E-Mail address you can think about converting them to shared mailboxes. Shared Mailboxes have 10GB free storage and there are no additional license costs. Setting the appropriate rights to the shared mailbox they will also automatically show up in Outlook.

If you want to convert one of your licensed mailboxes to a shared mailbox you can do that with PowerShell.

Anybody who knows me in person is aware that I am a very Microsoft committed person. As a Microsoft Office 365 MVP I use Microsoft technology day in day out with some high effort towards public cloud services. But that does not mean that I use any Microsoft device: my all day laptop is a 11’’ MacBook Air with Windows 8 on it and I used an iPhone since 2009. The MacBook Air is always good for starting conversations in front of presentations or talks to customers. The iPhone was a nice new gadget in 2009 and I stayed with it over the last years, buying the iPhone 3, the iPhone 3s, the iPhone 4 and the iPhone 4s.

This week European SharePoint Conference espc13 took place in Copenhagen, Denmark. ESPC is the largest SharePoint Conference in Europe, with more than 1.400 people attendees. The conference was located in Bella Center, Scandinavias biggest exhibition and conference centre. It was great to have so many well known international speakers at the conference, a lot of SharePoint Architects, MCMs, MVPs and other experts held more than 120 sessions. The focus was mainly on SharePoint 2013.

I am an Ultrabook Fan: Ultrabooks are small, lightweight and easy to handle. You need a lot of adapters (which have some weight too) and Ultrabooks can be used as a permanent working device. On my Ultrabook I am able to test how Office 2011 works together with Office 365. All in all a lot of advantages.

My Ultrabook is the “I am a PC” Version: I use Windows on a separate Partition and have included a second Windows 7 Installation via VHD-boot. Both Windows Installations are present via Bootloader and I can choose between them.

Office 365 has a password policy, which is by default set to expire on a regular basis (90 days). There are some guidelines which help to make sure that the password is secure:

Use 8 to 16 characters
combination of upper- and lowercase letters
at leat one numer or one symbol (be aware that the symbol is available in every language on every keyboard)
Do not use spaces, tabs, line breaks, your user name
