Sorry, still no custom people picker in SPO

Sorry, still no custom people picker in SPO

In Office 365 SharePoint Online all users of an Office 365 tenant are visible in the people picker. But for end users this often does not make sense… Use the people picker So if your type a person´s name in any people picker in SPO the system shows a list of all users known to the system. Pick the desired one and the user object id is used for the field or property. ...

Delegate365 changelog version 2.6

Delegate365 changelog version 2.6. We internally changed the encryption of stored credentials and extended it to protect all custom values. D365 uses an own Service Account for accessing and transferring user data to Azure Active Directory. For Exchange functionality like Alias email addresses or distribution lists as well as reporting data D365 needs additional credentials. These essential data must be stored in a secure way. To ensure safety in D365 we changed the encryption and extended it to all properties stored in the D365 database with version 2.6. Now all custom config values (even fields like company name, address, phone number, etc.) are encrypted with an Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) algorithm. ...

Bloggers who like to use their blog in a very simple way might be interested in https://blot.im/. “Blot is the simplest way to blog.” There´s no interface, just use Dropbox and upload text files. Blot uses these files and shows them in the web in a nice and clean web-interface. Depending on the audience and the formatting requirements Blot can be an alternative. Directly on the Blot website there´s a YouTube video embedded which shows how it works. ...

Accept the IceBucketChallenge

Accept the IceBucketChallenge

Probably you’ve seen a lot of photos and videos this week of celebrities and other well known business people dumping buckets of ice water over their heads. Here’s why and how we participated in it. The #IceBucketChallenge is about raising money and awareness for a disease called “ALS” (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) which is a motor neurone disease. The rules of the challenge: To accept a person has to dump a bucket of ice water over his head within the next 24 hours or donate money (usually $100) toward fighting ALS. Even if a person completes the challenge, they’re welcome to donate money too – actually everybody is most welcome to make a donation at https://www.alsa.org. After the ice water dumping nominate three other persons! ...

Where is my Office 365 tenant located?

Where is my Office 365 tenant located?

Recently I did a lot Tenant to Tenant migrations. There are various reasons for a Tenant to tenant migration: sometimes companies are bought and their Office 365 needs to be consolidated into the tenant of the acquired company. Sometimes the Tenant name just don’t fit and the customer wants a new one. The tenant name is the one in front of onmicrosoft.com, for instance which name is contoso.onmicrosoft.com or fabrikam.onmicrosoft.com. Usually you don’t see that name – with one exception: SharePoint Online, where the tenant name shows up in the navigation bar as contoso.sharepoint.com or fabrikam.sharepoint.com. ...

Bye bye charms bar News about Windows 9

Bye bye charms bar News about Windows 9

TheVerge has collected (inofficial) information about the next version of Microsoft Windows – which is expected to be named Windows 9 (AKA “Threshold”) and planned to come to market next spring (2015), see the details here: Windows 9 will kill Microsoft’s awkward Charms menu, introduce virtual desktops (I like this nice dummy image from https://www.digitaltrends.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/windows-9.jpg.) Sources of the TheVerge-article are Winbeta (Windows 9 Threshold…), ZDNet (Mary Jo Foley: Microsoft’s Windows ‘Threshold’ expected to add virtual desktops, drop charms) and Neowin (Windows Threshold: Here come the virtual desktops). ...

Delegate365 changelog version 2.5

Delegate365 changelog version 2.5

Delegate365 changelog version 2.5. There´s a new feature concerning distribution lists built in. We got the request that it would be useful to integrate existing distribution lists into other distribution lists (DL) in D365, so that all members of a DL automatically receive emails if their DL is member of one or more other DL(´s). So now in D365 v2.5 it is possible to put existing DL´s as member into another DL. This feature is handy and reduces potential synchronization steps and eases the organizational tasks for the admins. ...

Delegate365 version 2.4

Delegate365 changelog version 2.4. We optimized some changes in the SMS notification service. New feature SMS-notification. Each customer can define if he wants to use SMS notifications in D365 or not. With SMS there are additional costs for the SMS provider. To ensure that a customer is aware of that function we can completely switch the SMS sending on or off. Admins: If yes, admins can define if they want to receive a notification via email and/or SMS: When editing the admin you can define each channel: email and/or SMS. The format of the phone number must be like this sample: ...

Give people your love-not your like

There´s a cool made video “Look Up” by Gary Turk about our confusion with #socialmedia. Update: Thanks Stefan Bauer from www.n8d.at for the tip that this video is originally made by Gary Turk with the title “Look Up” and viral since May. The previous version I posted here is only a repost by James Ellis on facebook. So I changed the author and the link to the original video on YouTube. Watch the video here! ...
