Eigentlich beginnt die Geschichte ganz harmlos. Es geht darum, ein Privathaus in Kärnten möglichst gut mit Internet-Versorgung und Wireless Empfang (WiFi) auszustatten. Die Ausgangssituation Das Haus ist ein Villa aus den 1940er Jahren und somit rund 75 Jahre alt, hat insgesamt 4 Stockwerke mit rund 100m² pro Geschoss und steht in der Nähe des Faaker Sees in Kärnten. Groß ist die Freude, wenn man endlich ein Microsoft Surface Pro 3 in Händen hält. Der neueste Tablet-PC ist leistungsfähig und ein echter Desktop-Ersatz. Schon bald ist das Gerät auch in Europa verfügbar. Deshalb hier ein paar meiner ersten Erfahrungen und ein schneller Tipp am Rande, falls es einmal ein Problem bei der (ersten) Einrichtung geben sollte. Auspacken und…? In meinem Fall habe ich das Gerät in einem Microsoft Store in den USA gekauft. Die erste Freude war etwas davon getrübt, dass das Gerät nicht aufgeladen ist. Das ist man mittlerweile gewohnt und dann natürlich etwas enttäuscht. Wenn man dann so wie ich ein paar Stunden mit dem Auto unterwegs ist und es ausprobieren will, ob es auch funktioniert, hat man Pech. Also gleich im Hotelzimmer an den Strom anschließen… Das Netzteil ist jetzt durchdachter, es besteht aus einem zweipoligen Standard-Kabel in das Netzteil. Erst von dort führt dann das (Spezialkabel – es ist ein anderer Geräte-Stecker als bisher) zum Surface. Somit muss nicht das ganze Netzteil für europäische Stromstecker getauscht werden, sondern nur das erste Stromkabel. In der Box sind das Gerät und das Netzteil enthalten. Das Netzteil klickt nun deutlich leichter ein als bei den bisherigen Surface. ...
