Last week, our third IT/DevConnections conference took place in Las Vegas. We had the pleasure to have several sessions there. The IT/DevConnections conference took place from 10th to 13th of October in the luxurious Aria resort that is located right in the middle of the famous Las Vegas strip. Letzten Donnerstag, den 16. Juni, fand bei Microsoft in Wien das Build 2016 Redelivery Event statt. Microsoft hatte eingeladen, sich persönlich über “Das neueste zu Windows 10 und anderen coolen Dingen – Zusammenfassung von der //build” zu informieren. Es gab drei Tracks, gefolgt vom Sommergrillen im Garten. Hier gibts ein paar Snapshots vom Event! Die Agenda bot Programm für IT-Pros und Open Source Enthusiasten (siehe hier) und für Developer (siehe hier) war bunt gemischt. Die Sprecher waren von Microsoft DX und Mitglieder aus der Microsoft Community (MCTs, MVPs, RDs). Die Themen reichten von Azure (Stack) bis HoloLens und Augmented und Virtual Reality. ...

On Saturday, the 28th of May 2016, our second SharePoint Saturday Paris took place. Again, the organization team Patrick and Gokan arranged a perfect community event in one of the most beautiful cities in the world. We enjoyed Paris in May (before river Seine flooded the shores one week later), we even had a great speaker dinner on a boat on the Seine. We also had the pleasure to meet with “Mr. SharePoint”, Jeff Teper, Microsoft Corporate Vice-President OneDrive and SharePoint who delivered a keynote and spent time with the SharePoint community. Die Weihnachtsfeiertage werden neben den Dingen, die man hierüblicherweise tut (ich kann auch kaum noch Weihnachtskekse sehen…) auch oft für Computer-Support für Familienmitglieder genutzt. Wenn man sich schon zum Kaffee sieht… In meinem Fall ging es darum, ein “altes” Notebook mit Windows 7 auf Windows 10 zu aktualisieren. Der ganze Vorgang war dann doch nicht mit “einmal Update” erledigt, sondern hat rund 12 Stunden gedauert. Warum? Nun, hier folgt meine kleiner Erfahrungsbericht, wie es funktioniert. ...

Eigentlich beginnt die Geschichte ganz harmlos. Es geht darum, ein Privathaus in Kärnten möglichst gut mit Internet-Versorgung und Wireless Empfang (WiFi) auszustatten. Hier eine Geschichte über das HowTo und die vielen Erfahrungen im Zuge dieses Projekts. Vielleicht ist ja für den einen oder anderen ein brauchbarer Tipp für die Umsetzung in ähnlichen Szenarien dabei. Die Ausgangssituation Das Haus ist ein Villa aus den 1940er Jahren und somit rund 75 Jahre alt, hat insgesamt 4 Stockwerke mit rund 100m² pro Geschoss und steht in der Nähe des Faaker Sees in Kärnten. Von der Seite sieht das Haus so aus – vom “Keller” bis zum Dachgeschoß. ...
